It was time for a change in my life. I was never a big exerciser, because I never had to. I am the kid who avoided gym class all through school and never played a sport. I was a cheerleader to get the PE credit! Although, I was always one of those skinny people who never gained weight, when I hit a certain age my inactivity started catching up with me. I had joined plenty of gyms and never went because I needed a community and coach to hold me accountable.
CrossFit Central is close to my home, and I would see awesome things going on; women doing pull-ups and swinging kettlebells. Needless to say I was intimidated, but I thought it’s now or never. I did Elements, and still needed extra help in addition to Women’s Only classes, so I had got private coaching sessions with Coach Carey.
I am a mother of two active teenagers and I work outside of the home. I was active in my work and personal life, but did not take care of my body. I would get frustrated because I would try diets without exercising and nothing seemed to help me keep weight off. I was definitely ready for a program that would change not only my lifestyle and my eating habits, but also my family’s. We eat better, and I set a good example for my kids by taking care of myself and being active.
But the most important results are what I have gained. I have gained strength and confidence. I have gained an amazing group of women that I enjoy spending time with outside of class. I have gained a group of like minded individuals focused on similar goals. CrossFit has helped me realize that I am strong and capable. I am stronger, faster and have more energy than ever before. People not only comment on how fit I have become, but also my discipline and focus.
Lost over 8lbs 10% body fat and 4 dress sizes!
If you can survive a CrossFit workout by just continuing to move and maintaining a positive attitude, you can make it through whatever challenge you face in your life outside of CrossFit. I figure if I can do it, anyone can!
