Eighteen months ago my size 10 clothes were starting to get pretty tight and I was on my way to a size 12. I was exhausted all the time, I drank Dr. Pepper like it was water, and I was grumpy more often than not. I was bigger than I had ever been in my life (for the exception of being pregnant.) I was frustrated with myself and knew something had to change. I didn’t want to keep buying bigger and bigger clothes! I played tennis once a week “to stay in shape” but knew I was kidding myself if this was all I was willing to do to prevent gravity and sprawl from taking over.
My husband introduced me to CrossFit on October 1, 2008, and I was hooked that very day! I loved the variety and intensity of the workouts. Three months later I went to my Level 1 certification and started coaching part time. I soon met Jeremy Thiel and switched careers from a marriage and family therapist to a full time CrossFit Coach!
Three months after starting CrossFit and the Zone diet I lost over 15 pounds and went from a size 10-12 to a size 6! Since then I have lost another 5-7 pounds and now wear a size 2-4. I have lost a total of 11% body fat and am in better shape today at 37 years old than I was playing volleyball in college. I have rarely been sick since I began CrossFit and Zone. I have more energy, better mental focus, and feel comfortable in a swim suit for the first time in my life!

Working out with the other female trainers at CrossFit Central is an honor. We push each other and continually set the bar higher and higher. I have accomplished things that I didn’t know were possible. I had imposed limits on what I thought I could do as a 37 year old mother of 2! I didn’t think it was possible to get into a two-piece swim suit ever again or do pull-ups, handstand push ups and lift 5000lbs from ground to over head in 9 minutes and change! I’ve learned that women do not have to throw in the towel and give up on themselves regardless of their age!
I am healthier now than I was 10, 15, even 20 years ago. CrossFit is a phenomenal instrument to help you examine and improve not only your physical fitness but your emotional and spiritual fitness as well. I’m excited about the next chapter in my life and know that there are no limits except the ones I put on myself.
